Many times I focus on food for good health on my site, but this is the perfect time to focus on another aspect of wellness. We celebrate Thanksgiving at this time of year in America and this is one of the times we become very busy and maybe don’t take the time to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for!
Yesterday, I was at the grocery store buying food to make for the special day and as I was standing in line a lady turned around and looked at my cart and said, “the worse part is trying to figure out how to make something with all of it” and I immediately said “No the toughest part is carrying it all in the house!” We laughed for a moment but almost as soon as I said that I felt convicted. I mean like one of those times that you feel like you are being grounded for doing something wrong. A voice in my head said ” Look at all you are blessed with! Many people can’t buy food. Many people would love to have that problem!” Oh wow! An aha moment for this girl! I wanted to say to that lady, I shouldn’t have said that because I am blessed beyond measure!! I felt so convicted that I hope I never complain about all that I have again!
I have found from my own experience that not only does healthy food and all of the other things I talk about on here help to heal me, one of the most crucial things that can either “make or break me” is my own mind! Stress and negativity aren’t ever good for a healing body or those around so I set out to be more positive every day!
During this time take a moment to write down all that you are thankful for in your life. Reflect on those things rather then the news or the negativity that might be going around on social media. Unfollow those that don’t bring thankfulness in your life and only negativity. If you are that person that brings only negativity work on changing that about yourself. We all have character flaws! I have many, and being positive all the time is not something that comes easy to me, especially when I have taken in a steady diet of negativity from other outlets, but it is something I strive to do better with each day! We are all a work in progress! If you start your morning off each day and list off three things you are thankful for you will be amazed at the change in the way your day goes and how much better you feel mentally which in turn helps your physical body! So go ahead, I dare you, be thankful!
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good! His faithful love endures forever! Psalm 107-:1
Excellent article and advice. We are so blessed, and can sometimes take that for granted…..I do anyway. God is so good! Thank you Trisha
Thank you for the kind comment Terri! You are so right. It’s so easy to forget about all of the things we are blessed with!
