Here’s another great story of how taking some control over your own health can make a huge impact on the outcome of your situation. Here is Kelly’s story of her journey with psoriasis…..
What was going on…
Kelly’s story is like many that suffer from this situation. She developed itchy red flaky patches of skin on her eyelids, scalp and neck. She went to a dermatologist and was told she had psoriasis and prescribed multiple lotions, creams, oils and steroid shots. Nothing worked that was prescribed. The multiple steroid shots provided relief for no more than 7 days at a time Her scalp was extremely itchy, flaky, inflamed and raw which led to lots of burning. She would wake in the night clawing the raw broken skin on her scalp. She had to rub Vaseline on her eyelids morning and night. She was never at any time told that psoriasis was an autoimmune disease. She discovered this while reading a blog article about psoriasis.
What did she do?…..
As a result of a skin allergy test she disposed of all of her makeup and beauty products that contained synthetic fragrances and thimerosal. She even eventually eliminated sulfates and parabens as well.
She went on a gluten free diet first and then transitioned to a strict paleo eating program. She also went on the Autoimmune Protocol diet for one month.
She made an extra effort to incorporate healthy lifestyle choices such as moderated exercise, better sleep and stress relief.
She discontinued any medications for her psoriasis and used natural oils such as shea butter and coconut oil for moisturizing.
What a difference it made…..
Her eyelids cleared up right away after removing thimerosal and fragrance in her makeup and beauty supplies. She had suffered from the scaly eyelids for a long time. The dry patches on her lids have not returned since then.
The gluten free diet helped, but her scalp improved even more with a paleo, dairy free diet. Her psoriasis went into complete remission after the month long Autoimmune Protocol reset. It only took about one month to clear up once she discovered all of her triggers. She still has flares if she deviates from a strict paleo diet and she thinks that stress is a contributing factor as well. In addition to this huge improvement in her condition she is also enjoying improvements in the frequency of migraines, acid reflux and digestive upset after she made these changes.
A word from her to YOU…
Our bodies have this innate and miraculous way of fighting and helping us heal if we just nurture ourselves. Sometimes it takes a lot of work and a lot of experimentation. Don’t ever give up!
Kelly just opened a gluten free bakery where she has a chance to share her story and her knowledge in the hopes of helping others. She releases a weekly newsletter with bakery info, health articles and recipes. Her bakery website is www.BenefitYourLife.com and her personal blog is www.SimpleNaturalLife.com.
