I’ve been working on getting my iron levels up lately, and one of the ways I like to get some iron into my diet is by making a green smoothie in the morning. After some experimenting with different combinations, this one is my favorite so far.
Ingredients:
2 cups organic spinach
1 frozen banana
3 organic strawberries
4 TB homemade plain kefir or yogurt
1 TB organic coconut oil
1 TB flax seed
2 tsp Dr. Schultze Superfood Plus or moringa
1 cup filtered water
raw honey or stevia to taste
Place all of the ingredients in a Vitamix, nutria bullet or blender and blend until flax seed is ground. (If you have a regular blender you might want to ground your flax seed first).
Makes 2 servings.
Enjoy with a couple of pastured organic eggs for a nourishing iron rich breakfast.
