Colloidal silver has been used for many years for it’s antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal properties. Prior to the year 1938 , colloidal silver was used in the medical community often for its antibiotic properties. And then with the advent of Penicillin it became less used but is still considered an excellent antibiotic and very safe to use. Due to the high cost of purchasing colloidal silver I began generating my own silver at home. I’ve found it to be super easy to do and I can literally make my own colloidal silver for a fraction of the cost! Here is one way to make your own generator at home.
What you need:
One quart mason jar
99.99% pure silver wire
Two alligator clips
One 30-36 volt DC ink jet printer power adaptor (available many times at Goodwill, Salvation army or yard sales for a couple of dollars)
Pure Distilled water (Be sure it says “steamed distilled” as sometimes that term is used loosely and the water may not be pure)
Directions:
Cut off the end of the wire that plugs into the printer, attach the end of alligator clips to those two ends.
Fill quart jar with distilled water.
Bend the tops of the two silver wires so that it will hang onto the edge of the jar and place the wires into the water. Try to make sure the wires are fairly straight and as close to the jar as possible and that the wires are as far away from each other in the jar as possible.
Attach one alligator clip to each wire that is hanging over the jar.
Plug in power adaptor.
You are now brewing colloidal silver!
After you are done brewing unplug device and then remove alligator clips.
How long should I brew it?
A very easy way to gauge length of time is to brew it until it starts to turn slightly yellow, cloudy or murky. You will need to keep a close eye on that first batch. Whatever time it took for that to happen subtract 10-15 minutes from that brewing time and you should have the best brewing time for the water that you are using. This may change if you alter the water choices but if you continue to use the same water source it should work. This can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours.
The cloudy, yellow or murky colloidal silver is still totally fine to use. This will just shorten the life of your silver wires. If you see little particles floating around in the water this is fine as well but you can pour it through a coffee filter to remove this from your colloidal silver. After you have brewed your first batch you can shorten your brewing time by saving approximately 1/4 of your previous batch and use it as a “starter” for your next batch. This should reduce your brewing time by 2/3.
If it turns yellow or cloudy in 2 hours or less it means you don’t have a real pure water source and it could taste a little more bitter. This is still fine to use! One place that seems to have a good source of distilled water is Walmart’s Distilled water. It has been shown to test pretty close to pure.
The wires may become “fuzzy” looking or look like it has a buildup on them. This is totally harmless but you can wipe them off with a soft cloth if you’d like. The cleaner your water the less of this you will see on the wires.
Clean your jar with a nylon pot scrubber and non-soapy water.
Colloidal silver can be used for so many things when you are able to make large amounts like this. Use it for cleaning, sanitizing wounds or for acne, sinus infections and bacterial infections.
Mix silver with aloe vera gel and use on skin for sanitizing wounds.
